Russell Falls, Mt Field National Park

In a nutshell:

Mt Field is a very popular national park, only 55 miles from Hobart. Russell Falls are spectacular all year round and can be viewed after a short walk on flat ground through the rainforest. There are spacious picnic grounds under the tree canopy, an interpretation centre and kiosk. You'll find more falls further in to the park and many walks of varying lengths.

Several companies operate day tours to the park, some in 4WD vehicles that can explore deeper in to the forest. A public bus service runs during the summer months only, allowing most of the day to explore walking tracks in the lower reaches of the park.

There are several places to stay at the entrance to the park. Choose from a hotel, hostel (YHA) or self-catering cabins.
