Rafting, Cataract Gorge, Launceston

In a nutshell:

Within Launceston city boundaries you'll find a natural river gorge with a basin reserve. Cataract Gorge is a restful haven away from the hustle and bustle, with beautiful cliff gardens and an awe inspiring suspension bridge. The longest single-span chairlift in the southern hemisphere covers the entire basin reserve, crossing to the tearooms and restaurant on the far bank. Picnickers are often found around the large outdoor swimming pool and natural river swimming hole.

There is no entry fee.

Local buses service the reserve and several half day tours include the gorge as part of their itinerary.
